THE TABLE
 
There is a chair for you! 
 
It doesn't matter if you go to church or not.  If you go to church somewhere, then GREAT!  We don't want you to leave your church to come join us.  We are simply a worship community.  You can come be a part of what we're doing and still stay plugged in to your church.
 
If you don't go to church anywhere, then the Table would be an awesome introduction for you to experience the love of the Creator.  We would relish the chance to share Christ's love with you in a real way. 
 
It doesn't matter if you have it "all figured out."  As a matter of fact, we're still working on it!  We've decided to simply love Jesus and love like Jesus.  We figure the rest will take care of itself.
 
It doesn't matter if you consider yourself religious at all.  We've all had struggles with those who've had lots of religion but little love.  The Table is going to be different!
 
The Table is not a church, but simply a worship experience.
 
The Table is a worship initiative of The United Methodist Hour.  We seek to love Jesus and love like Jesus through authentic worship and service. 
 
Although a ministry of The Hour, The Table is an ecumenical worship community.
 
So, what do you think?  we think you might be surprised.

Our First Service Was A Huge Success!
What a difference “The Day” makes…

In the spring of 2007, the team of the United Methodist Hour first envisioned a worship community that gathered at the studios of The Hour. In fact, we went so far as to put in new lights, build a new stage and start the process of converting our studio into a worship center.



Heart surgery placed a “pause” on our plans for a while until the fall of 2007, when Anthony Thaxton and I resurrected the idea as a possibility for the future of our ministry. What we saw was the opportunity to share the message and spirit of The Hour with a worship community of like-minded folks of faith.

Over the past 9 months, we have prayed, planned and, even, pleaded for guidance in what we believe is God’s great next step in the life of The Hour.

The result has been one of the great joys of my ministry—and I have had a lot of wonderful marks along the journey!

Not only did God continue to provide the needed ideas and resources, but, most importantly, God continues to put an unbelievable mix of friends in place to lead this endeavor. Along with Anthony, God provided Laurie Herring to oversee our ministry matters and logistics, Chris Eaton to care for pastoral concerns as Chaplain, Dean Wade to guide the development of ongoing resources the work far beyond the walls of the ministry, and Bo Parker who, every time he shares his amazing gift in song, leads us into the presence of God.

And, if that wasn’t enough, God ignited in our spouses the same desire and hunger to share the grace of the Gospel.


The result? This week nearly 120 people gathered for the first worship service at The Table. Our studio holds 100 comfortably. No, we didn’t have every “I” dotted or every “t” crossed, but we did have the presence of the Creator and the unmistakable feeling that the logistics didn’t matter as long as we paused long enough to welcome Him.

Sure, we have many questions and struggles ahead. But, it is such sweet struggle and we look forward to what God will do.

So, for the Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Catholics and everyone in-between who began singing this new song together, we say “thank you” to the one who gave us the song, the melody and the joy to sing it.
We can’t wait to see what happens next.
